Third Event of 2006 UROC ProNationals Coming to Salt Lake City

OREM, UTAH (July 10, 2006) – Forty-five of the world’s best rockcrawlers are preparing to battle the man-made rock elements of the  UROC Proving Grounds later this month when the 2006 UROC ProNational Pacific Division season invades Rocky Mountain Raceway Saturday July 29, and Sunday July 30th 2006.


The event in Salt Lake City will be held at the site of the 2004 World Championship Supercrawl and presented by Toyo tires.  The UROC Proving Grounds at Rocky Mountain Raceway is one of the toughest courses in the country and, as the third round of four; this event is possibly the key event for the season.

The series this year is tight, with a three way tie between Bruce Zeller, Marty Hart, and Tracy Jordan for first place.  Goodyear’s Jason Bunch is running fourth but with little margin to play with.  2005 Series Champion, UROC All-Star and Dirt Sports Magazines Driver Of The Year Shannon Campbell trails in 5th place by only 20 points and is tied with long time top contender and co All-Star Jason Paule.

Rockcrawling, which is the world’s fastest growing motorsport, is described as having the sight, smell and sound of stock car racing, the vertical element of Supercross and the adrenalin rush of bull riding. Rockcrawlers will battle for a portion of the $25,000 purse amongst two classes: Modified or Super Modified. Attendance is expected to reach 5,000.


Tickets are $15 at the gate with two for one coupons available at area Maverik stores. Children 5-12 are $5.00 and 4 and under are admitted for free.


Gates open at 5:00 PM on Saturday with the first elimination round beginning at 6:00 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. on Sunday, with Round 2 eliminations continuing at 11 a.m. The top 12 teams in each class move on to the semi-final round, which begins immediately following the elimination round. The top four teams in each class advance to the finals/main event immediately following completion of the semi-finals.
